Halloween Contact Lenses

Costumes are a major part of the Halloween festivities and Halloween contact lenses add a new dimension to Halloween costumes.

Originally limited to young children who would dress up in costumes and go trick or treating, the practice of getting into costumes on Halloween has spread to adults who throw costume parties on All Hallows Eve. Eschewing the more common costumes like sheets and false fangs, adults have been trying to outdo themselves in coming up with unusual and realistic Halloween costumes. This has been encouraged by the popularity of horror films in cinema and television with highly realistic themes. Thus, partygoers at adult Halloween costume parties pride themselves in looking like their favorite TV horror characters or trying to outdo them.

Halloween contact lenses are an easy way of getting a dramatic and realistic horror look. Invented to correct vision deficiencies, contact lenses evolved into cosmetic and fashion items which can change the color of a person’s eyes. A woman with natural brown eyes would sometimes appear with green or blue eyes depending on her mood, wardrobe or whim. Because contact lenses are easy to put on and remove, they became a convenient fashion accessory for many women.

From being an everyday fashion accessory, it was not a major step to turn contact lenses into accessories for special occasions, as has happened with Halloween contact lenses. Special designs were added to the lenses to give them a special look. In the case of Halloween contact lenses, the designs were specifically created to make the user look scary. So a person attending a Halloween costume party can decide to go as a vampire, werewolf, zombie or other horror creature with the eyes to match.

Artists and designers have been hard at work developing designs for Halloween contact lenses in what has become a rather competitive business. Some of the more commonly advertised designs for Halloween contact lenses go by the imaginative names of zombie contacts, werewolf contacts. Terminator contacts, Twilight contacts, I Love Lucifer contacts, Frankenstein contacts, Dracula contacts and Sauron’s Eye contacts. Of special interest among these designs are white Halloween contact lenses. This type covers only the iris and leaves the pupil visible, allowing for some rather terrifying designs that can make a person appear dead.

Halloween contact lenses may be used like regular, non-prescription contact lenses. They have no vision correcting properties and are used purely for decorative purposes. They are comfortable and do not cause any irritation provided they are properly cleaned, stored and fitted.

Halloween contact lenses are an interesting thing to consider to add fun to your next Halloween costume party.
